Grassroots of Yakima Valley
Trying to Save Our Country
Grassroots of Yakima Valley is a group of American citizens whose goal is to educate the public about the dangers facing our country because of the failure of our elected officials from the White House down to our Yakima City Council to acknowledge that illegal immigration is a major crisis.
It was a major victory on the part of Grassroots organizations all over the country who called, faxed, and E-mailed members of Congress to defeat The Immigration Reform bill recently voted down by the U.S. Senate. Conservative talk show hosts on radio and TV threw their support and helped lead the charge to defeat this bill.*
The hiring of illegal aliens to fill the jobs that should belong to American citizens has resulted in an overall decline in wages, decline in benefits, loss of jobs, loss of health insurance, home foreclosures, etc. We are subsidizing, through our tax supported local, state and federal benefits, employers who hire illegal aliens at low wages.
It is commonly known that a significant percentage of Yakima County’s population is made up of illegal aliens. These illegal aliens originally came to work in agriculture, but now many have left agriculture and are working in many other occupations. This illegal population is a major contributor to our overcrowded schools, overused hospital emergency rooms, and overburdened social service agencies. This is where your tax dollars are going!!!
In Yakima County, gang membership, drug addiction, car thefts, home burglaries, destruction of property, and graffiti, have increased dramatically as the illegal immigrant population has exploded. Some 1200 to 1400 illegal aliens incarcerated in our state prisons cost taxpayers over $32,000,000 annually. In Yakima County alone the cost to incarcerate illegals is $1,000,000 per year. Your tax $$$ at work.
Illegal aliens get millions of dollars worth of public assistance and social services each year in Washington, state officials agree, according to a recent Yakima Herald story. Some of these benefits are Medicaid, food stamps, health care, WIC, immunizations, family planning, pregnant women’s program, children’s health program, alien emergency medical program, food banks, Consolidated Emergency Assistance Program, childcare, energy assistance, housing assistance, K through 12 education, and in state tuition, scholarship, and grants for college and on and on and on. Your tax $$$ at work.
Be aware of the “Dream Act” which has been introduced in Congress which would lead to citizenship for illegals attending college. Why should any of our tax dollars go to benefit anyone who has broken our law by illegally entering our country?

You can call Doc Hastings office and ask them to send you a list of all the members of the House of Representatives. You can call Patty Murray’s office and ask them to send you a list of the Senate. Although they say you should only call Hastings, Murray and Cantwell, when it was time to defeat the Senate immigration bill, we called every senator and voiced our opinion. The Capitol Hill Switchboard can be called 24x7 and most congressmen’s phone systems have after hours voice mail which allows you to leave your message at any time.

We are going to lose our country unless each and everyone of us makes our elected officials know we are watching, listening and checking their voting records to see that their votes reflect our wishes. They were voted into office and can be voted out.
